SAHD Recipe – Korean Style Beef Bowl


korean beef bowlHey everyone, welcome to another installment of SAHD recipes. This Korean style beef bowl is super easy to make and our son loves it. It’s a perfect dish for those busy weekdays.


  • 1 pound ground beef. I usually get the 92% ground beef. 80% is too fatty for this dish.
  • 1-3 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1-2 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 inch ginger, peel and grated
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds. Toast it a bit to bring out the aroma.
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil


  1. Heat up a pan. Add oil and wait a few seconds. Add garlic and stir around for a few seconds.
  2. Add ground beef and crumble it into small pieces. Cook until brown.
  3. Add ginger, soy sauce, brown sugar, and green onion. Stir for 10-20 seconds. Done!

Serve with rice, salad, and kimchi if you have any. See, super easy.

      I have a Tatung rice cooker. It’s really good, stainless steel without nonstick coating.
      We got it on sales a while back. It seems more expensive now.
      I usually use Thai jasmine rice or short-grain rice from CA.

    We do something similar but instead of ground beef, we slice up some short-rib from Costco and marinade it with similar bulgogi ingredients/flavours or prepackaged if we’re lazy.

    We make this exact recipe too! Except we also fry an egg for each bowl (sunny-side up) and drizzle gochujang on top of everything. So yummy and easy!
