Gym Is Closing Down For Remodel

10.31.2011

Our gym at work is closing down for a 3 month remodel…. This is going to throw a huge monkey wrench into my New Year’s Resolution of staying alive and exercising 4-5 times per week. I go to the gym at lunch and it really helps me get through the day. Humans aren’t built to work on a computer all day long. My shoulders are always tight, my back is sore, and overall I’m not feeling well. Yes, I have had an ergonomic review and my work station is set up correctly. I even installed software that stops me from [...]

How Often Do You Check Your Net Worth?

10.28.2011

Your net worth is the value of your asset minus debt. I have a spreadsheet that I set up to calculate our net worth. I have to manually enter the latest stock prices, but that’s all right because it makes me more aware of how my investments are doing. Commissioned by GetLenses, the survey claims that only 27 per cent of motorists in Britain possess prescription sunglasses. The poll also revealed that 53 per cent of respondents wear normal [...]

How Much We Spend On Driving

10.26.2011

I read an article on TIME the other day on how much we spend on driving. It was actually a summary of a study from Energy Trap. The study is quite long and I will have to bookmark it so I can go through it in detail. Basically, they are saying an American family spends more money on their ride than on health insurance or taxes. By the end of 2011, we will have spent more than $490 Billion dollars on gasoline. That is a huge amount! Many families are having a difficult time paying for the total cost of [...]

Donate your music and help a Charity

10.25.2011

This post brought to you by Music Magpie. Donate your old CDs to charity. You may ask, how will an old CD help a charity? That’s easy because charities are getting in on the recycling trend. From breast cancer awareness to conservation and animal rights, these charity organizations are seeing the opportunity for recycling old music CDs and turning them into donations. It might be hard to part with cold hard cash, but a few CDs no one listens to won’t be missed. Local fundraising organizations are starting campaigns to rid your homes of unwanted items and convert them into [...]
